We are delighted to share a brief story outlining the collaborative efforts that have gone into restoring the kiosk, trimming the cherry blossom tree, and restoring lighting at Bergen Place Park. This project has been made possible through the joint efforts of several dedicated groups and individuals.
The restoration initiative at Bergen Place has been a testament to the power of community collaboration. The Ballard Alliance, Parks and Recreation, Councilmember Strauss’ team, the Ballard Avenue Landmark District, Friends of Bergen Place, and Novo Painting and Property Services have all played crucial roles in bringing this vision to life.
The Ballard Alliance, Friends of Bergen Place, and the Ballard Ave. Landmark District all took an active leadership role in coordinating the restoration project. Working closely with Parks and Recreation, they identified the areas needing attention and formulated a comprehensive plan for the revitalization of Bergen Place.
Councilmember Strauss’ team, recognizing the historical significance of Bergen Place, provided valuable guidance and support throughout the restoration process. Their commitment to preserving the neighborhood’s cultural heritage has been instrumental in ensuring the success of this project.
The Ballard Avenue Landmark District, known for its dedication to preserving Ballard’s historical sites, lent its expertise to maintaining the architectural integrity of the kiosk and surrounding structures. Anthony Salazar, the group’s historian, played a crucial role in ensuring that the restoration honors the distinctive heritage of the neighborhood.
Friends of Bergen Place, a passionate community group, played a pivotal role in garnering support and raising awareness about the restoration project. Through their tireless efforts, they rallied community members and fostered a sense of pride and ownership within the neighborhood.
Finally, Seattle Parks and Recreation breathed new life into the kiosk by replacing the plexiglass, restoring lighting, and trimming the cherry blossom tree. Additionally, Novo Painting and Property Services carried out the new paint job. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality resulted in a beautiful transformation of Bergen Place.
